The large ocean that surrounded Pangea in
the Late Paleozoic and Early Mesozoic. This ocean was huge,
even by Pacific standards, since virtually all of the planet’s
landmasses were grouped together in a single supercontinent.
Sea levels were low during Pangean glaciations and rose dramatically
during the breakup of the supercontinent in the Triassic
and Jurassic.
