Vents from which gases and vapors are emitted.
They typically form in active volcanic terrains where late-stage
fluids and gases escape from the magma along fractures or
other conduits. They may also form where groundwater seeps
deeply into the crust, gets heated by magmatic or other heat,
and returns to the surface to escape at fumarole vents. Geysers
are types of fumaroles, as are seafloor hydrothermal vents.
