Energy may be generated by the movement
of water. In places where water is moving rapidly, such as
over a waterfall, the water may be redirected to move
through a turbine that moves and powers a generator, producing
hydroelectric power. Hydroelectric power is often heralded
as clean energy, since it does not burn hydrocarbons or
other fuels, and hydroelectric plants can be constructed with
minimal environmental impact.
